SPOILERS! Cosy, pretty film but not satisfying for a modern sensibility, as the huge plot holes were hard to ignore. How did Rosie/Grace know where to find her daughter? What agency did the family use to hire her - Murderous Maids R Us? Why does a housewife need a maid, as, unless they inherited wealth, a Minister would barely make enough to support his family, much less hire a housekeeper. Was Grace just released in her late 60's? Why? As an older woman, where does she get the strength to haul grown male bodies into car boots and ponds? Suddenly now the wife and daughter are murderers? Someone is eventually going to get suspicious about the disappearances in the area, especially the Gov workers. The Vicker will end up with his wife and daughter in prison and himself fired in disgrace. They still have a problem with blue/green algae in the water table. It's a very shallow pond and now further poisoned with human remains. Why didn't this insanity surface much sooner? They could have offed that dog ages ago. And lastly, why let Grace/Rosie leave? Where will she go and find another job at her age? She would be happier staying with her family, and they could mitigate her murderous ways. This could have been a much cleverer story. Too much suspended belief for me. However, having said all that, being a fan of the illustrious cast and charming scenery, I enjoyed much of it.
