Whiplash is not a movie about music, its a movie about perfection and obsession from an instructor and a student who both want the same thing! Its definitely not for everyone and many, many have missed the point by commenting on the music rather than the pursuit being portrayed. If you watched this movie thinking it was supposed to be an homage to great jazz then you missed it.
