From Zero is a celebration of return and a celebration of embracing its legacy.
The album presents a seamless listening experience that feels modern, precise, mature and aggressive. Each song works nicely in conjunction with each other despite having varying styles.
It's a bittersweet, committed album that builds on the legacy of Chester Bennington and Linkin Park. Emily and Colin are terrific additions to the band's new era.
They brought an impactful mix of youthful and current emo–post-hardcore–punk–grunge energy to the table that melds beautifully with the core evolving sound that Mike, Phoenix, Joe and Brad produce. And much like Chester, Emily is a talented force of nature. She reminds me of him in a good way and more. She earned her place and holds the torch passed on to her with respect and care.
The rest of the band are at the top of their game, especially Mike. He's a different animal here with more up on his sleeves.
The band cooked alright and they cooked up a fascinating concoction of experimental tracks that will make you dance, make you bop and headbang, even leave you thinking and emotional. Some hit so hard, they'll make you pump your fist up so high that you'll start getting flashbacks from previous records.
The album is short, flows smoothly and it's catchy enough that warrants repeated listens to let it sink in. It's a sonic bliss for any dedicated Linkin Park fans like me. I cannot wait to hear how they evolve from here and what they have more to offer. Exciting times!
