It's a comic hero origin movie, so don't expect a deep story or acting.
Samuel L. Jackson was excellent as a young Nicholas Fury, Agent of SHIELD. Brie Larson's Vers (Carol Danvers) was not nearly as bad as the vociferous critics were claiming before the film even released. Lashana Lynch (Maria Rambeau) was a believable retired Air Force pilot. Goose the Cat was the casting highlight of the film, in my opinion.
The weak point in the casting was Jude Law's Yon-Rogg, through no fault of Law's. The villain was poorly written, which seems to be common for MCU origin story films (excluding Guardians of the Galaxy's Ronin & Captain America: The First Avenger's Red Skull). There was far too little seen or heard from the other members of Yon-Rogg's team of Kree soldiers.
It was a good lead into April's Avengers: Endgame. I am glad that I spent the money to see it.
