I would’ve given it a 2.5 if I could, maybe even leaning closer to a 3 star. But, the writing is so atrocious it’s distracting. The effects are great, some really cool shots and that’s what makes the movie at all watchable in my opinion. The writing for the dialogue and characters really is awful, the overall idea is kind of half-baked, and with the runtime it has it doesn’t spend enough time on the things that are important like motivation. I’d only watch it for how cool some of the imagery and corpse effects are, but besides that it’s a pretty bad movie.

Ok, so. I have no idea what to rate this game. I looked at the reviews when I was still in the genesis section and had NO idea why the ratings were so high. I would’ve rated this 4 stars if it weren’t for the whole first section. Once you get past genesis it is a SIGNIFICANTLY better game. The school sections are incredibly effective (especially towards the end) and the imagery is beautiful. I felt that all that beautiful game design and the wonderful writing with the notes was being wasted on a game so frustrating, repetitive and lazily made; but, once you run the gauntlet that is the test of your patience that is the beginning this game really deserves a chance. I don’t want to say much of anything because of spoilers and I REALLY wish that I could give this a higher score, but I just can’t. The good is so SO good, but that bad is really REALLY bad.

Eh. To be honest I really don't get all the positive reviews on this, it feels like a hype train. I was actually really looking forward to this movie seeing the ads and promotional material. But, I just found it really disappointing. The trailers I can forgive for being misleading because maybe that was the production company or something. But, the movie itself I don't really have any excuses for. I LIKE slow, character driven narratives, but something just felt empty about this. If I could give it a 2 1/2 I would. It felt like nothing happened until they shoved in forced drama more than 3/4ths into the only hour and a half movie. Right as it felt like it was getting started there was only 15 minutes left and the ending itself felt unearned.
