This show is unintentionally hilarious with bad acting, poor casting, and silly storylines. For example, the vampires call themselves Bloods...I guess the Crips are on the way. The writers couldn't come up with something more creative? Lack of creativity is a major component of V Wars as they employ nearly every cliche element of virul-outbreak thrillers. Only one renegade doctor understands the disease. Check. Virus infects everyone but the doctor. Check. Scary, covert government bad guys plot to kill the scientist. Check. Doctors kid is kidnapped by government bad guys. Check. Doctor is repeatedly in danger, then magically saved in the knick of time. Check. Annoying kid needs to be rescued. Check. Rather then just shooting doctor in the head, the bad guys concoct a James Bond-esque complicated plan to kill him. Check.
The show brings absolutely nothing fresh or unique to the genre. Much to my frustration, characters arrive at correct conclusions easily, with no ground work to legitimize the arrival of those discoveries. No one wrestles with the doctor's insane suggestion that the infected people are transforming into vampires, everyone just accepts it without question.
And, perhaps the worst element of V Wars is it's failure to make the viewer give a damn about these people. Character development is cheesy and superficial at best, and I could care less if they all die.
Lest you think the show is a total dumpster fire, I have to commend V Wars surprisingly good special effects, decent quality CGI, and excellent makeup effects.
All in all, the show is essentially one step up from a campy Sci Fi channel monster movie.
