I am a huge Xmen fan and while some of the previous films have had there problems, I still was able to enjoy them. Unfortunately, this film was absolutely shockingly bad. The actors performed adequately, there wasn't any fantastic performances by anyone (Michael Fassbender had some good performances even with a poorly written script.) The main problem was the script with a side order of poor directing. I mean the death of Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique was tragic as the Xmen find out that Jean Gray had a power restricting "Collar"/ "muzzle" for her evil personality put on her by Prof. X when she was younger and it had stopped working after the incident in space. It's kind of believable some of the mutants initially blame Jean Gray, but once they realise what happened, they wouldn't have an uncontrollable urge to murder Jean Grey(JG) or blame Prof X, but the screen writers wanted a big fight scene (Between JG and Magn.)so they could show how powerful JG was. The Aliens that shape shifted didn't really need to be in the movie as the only thing we knew about them was they wanted this power from JG. All they did was make the fight scenes confusing to the viewer. We could only recognise 2 of the Aliens(the white haired girl and the skinny black guy), and the rest of the Aliens were fighting cops, Army, government people or Magneteo's mutant friends. You barely knew who were the good or bad guys as they all looked the same. At the end of the movie, we celebrate JG by naming the school after her because she deliberately lost control of her powers to kill the Alien Girl and unfortunately killed herself in the process. Realistically, no one could control her and she was a danger to everyone, so Prof. X was right in controlling her (That's what you do with crazy people in hospital).
Basically, the story didnt make sense and it was forced this way to have "cool CGI" fights. Worst Xmen movie ever.
