I absolutely loved And Then They Stopped Talking to Me. I wasn't sure what to expect but Warner explains the history of middle school and how that environment has developed. She poignantly states that not everyone has an awful middle school experience but many of us do. The way the book middle schoolers, and their sometimes equally difficult parents, are the way they are and perceived the way they are is eye-opening. Warner delicately tells us that even if we think we shut the book on our middle school trauma we might want to revisit it because it impacts many other facets of our lives. If you're looking for some enlightenment or self-help book for evolving the middle school education system or parenting your pre-teen this book isn't for you - and best of luck finding the holy grail. I highly recommend the book; parent or not, it's a compelling read.
