I never miss CBS This Morning. It's always informative and entertaining. This morning's program had a segment on a country music singer who was caught on video using the "n" word in an exchange with friends. This is obviously not something I condone. However, the word was not in the lyrics of a song, which would be played on stage and on the radio. I have pulled into a gas station next to a car with the windows down and the radio blaring. The lyrics in the hip hop music were enough to make my ears bleed and I have been so thankful that I didn't have children in the car. To be fair, if you're really interested in bringing public attention to racial slurs and foul language, you should have a segment on artists and record labels who allow this type of language to be marketed and performed to mass audiences. Do we really want our children to think that this rhetoric is acceptable just because they hear it so often?
