Zoo Story is a commentary novel which lacks the narrative elements of a non-fiction book. It has poor character interaction and development, making the book drab and mundane. Furthermore, zoo story lacks the figurative and emotional language to make the readers sympathise with the animals', mainly Enshalla's, plight. This book rarely makes use of any writer's craft, and I could only point a few out: simile, metaphor, hyperbole, triplet, and short sentences. Zoo Story is a perfect example of how not to write a non-fiction novel. Aspiring authors beware.
