A film so breathtakingly audacious, it is hard to review without seeing it as setting a new paradigm in genre bending cinema. The two leads are truly outstanding in their interactions and emotional complexity. Everything about this film should not work, but the director ingeniously triumphs by negotiating a self imposed tight rope walk to deliver a most powerful life affirming message, something like Walpole's "life is a comedy for those who think, a tragedy for those who feel."

Fantastic film. The spectacular cinematography greatly enhanced the creeping sense of dread which surprises in its all consuming severity as the film plunges ever deeper towards its Wickermanish conclusion . This culmination has a nod towards Aronofsky's mother! in its major female protagonist's acute emotional unravelling, whilst the male lead observes helplessly from afar. A step up from Hereditary, this director is very special indeed.
