A profile in discipline. The movie shows proud Africans willing to fight those who would take them away from their lives. This is not something l was taught as a child. Then l envisioned only frightened natives running in terror from the white slavers… and if ever it crossed my mind that there were those who fought relentlessly for freedom, never did l think they would be women! Take your daughters, people of all races. Let them see women of pride and power.

As humans we can become stateless in a myriad of ways: we can lose our connection to others ;we can lose our identity we can lose our country of origin, but whatever the condition of statelessness, this movie makes clear that it is painful, Frightening and disorienting and can cause one to wonder if they will ever feel their feet on Some kind of solid ground in this life ever again.

Yeah, I know zone 414 is a poor man’s blade runner. I know that the special effects are nonexistent and it looks like it was shot in the docks of Brooklyn instead of some future dystopia. And I know that the genius inventor is a trope because he looks and acts in such a hideous barely human way. Yes and it was so predictable how he would deal with the dilemma he faces over his daughter. And predictable that he would turn out to be much more human than his more conventional looking an acting brother. And yes the hard bitten detective is right out of the Sam spade mold. And the femme fatale is just looking for a good man to watch over her… But I couldn’t help myself. I liked all of that and I enjoyed the movie

This movie was so poignant, showing how what can bind us is so much larger than what might divide us. Two mothers in unbelievably difficult, almost hopeless seeming situations, share what little resources they have and all their strength and hope so that with a great deal of luck each may Survive. In the short time that they know each other, both use their maternal instincts to create a world of seeming safety and normalcy so that the one woman’s son doesn’t even realize they are in A desperate position. Further before the end of the movie each will risk their own safety and security to help the other remain in the struggle one more day and one more day. This is a movie that shows just how noble a fragile and powerless human being can be. .. Noble and strong. It will make you proud of human beings again

Revenge is a dish best served cold but the Female protagonistin this movie service it up hot The movie was quite tragic and because she could not be given happiness she was given revenge instead. I would have preferred she’d be happy

Costumes and production design are Incredibly well done. It really transported me back to the 60s I can vouch for its authenticity I was there. The only characters who engaged me were Mrs. Stackhouse and the murderous bookseller. Stackhouse was so unsympathetic I didn’t care what happened to him

I Felt rather dirty when it was over. By and large the acting was quite well done especially the actor who played the priest but the longer story went on the more degenerated It became. I could not work up much feeling for any of the villagers whatever their backstory and that’s not usual for me. I was able to work up a great dislike for the”church lady” so kudos to her acting and her part as I t was written. The only other thing that had a strong emotional toll on me was the death of a dog and the sadness of his owner. I would not recommend that you watch it unless there’s nothing else on In which you are interested

The story had some heartbreaking events that one could anticipate and I felt myself sitting there saying oh no please no. The writing was excellent and although there was barely time to give a thumbnail sketch of the characters one was made to feel that you knew and understood them. The white characters are done in by their own fatal flaws.The black people are crushed by theflaws of society. Still all those with intrinsic goodness rise in the end and go on and the way the young black ex soldier puts it in the end gives one in the message of what it is all about and more, what life is all about or should be.

I thought this movie was very well done. It kept me somewhat off-balance wondering what the protagonist would do next and also Wondering about the tone of the movie… Was it going to slide into comedy? The ending is based on an ending and I didn’t feel good about that. I suppose I am a person Who is hooked on redemption and there was comeuppance and perhaps justice in the ending But I felt that everything had been lain to waste And had this been a true story that would have been just too much loss for everyone those who deserved it and those who did not

All of the actors were compelling I felt as if l had been dropped into the community…into. the characters lives, and I believed totally in the story lines. Peoples’ lives and fates crisscross, sometimes to good effect… more often for bad. Many of the characters perpetrate monsterous acts, but not all of them are monsters. I highly recommend that you watch this movie yourself. You will be able to separate the wheat from the chaff! And along the way You will be riveted by the manner in which even the most innocent people can be tossed bythe waves of fate into the deep dark ocean of evil
