I think think the story of Hosea and Gomer is a beautiful love story representing Christ and His Bride, the Church. They completely ruined the capacity to reach a wide audience. I took my 3 teenage girls to see it knowing the story line and having read River's book. I was completely embarrassed at what I saw. The movie left no room for your Imagination. We did not need to see it all to fruition. I told them to not tell anyone we saw it. It's too bad. It is a love story of God repeatedly forgiving us and pursuing us.
