Empire of AI by Karen Hao This book examines AI largely through the lens of woke politics, with constant references to LGBTQ issues, DEI, and global warming. I kept hoping Hao would shift toward the technology itself, but her political framing persists from start to finish. A more accurate title might have been AI Social Issues or AI and Responsible Progressive Concerns. In fairness, she explains neural networks and other AI concepts thoroughly, and there are a few genuinely interesting sections. But overall, I found the tone somewhat sanctimonious and the writing flat. Hao often presents activist-driven anecdotes—such as a questionable harassment claim—without noting they are allegations, which I found disappointing given her background with the Wall Street Journal. The book isn’t terrible, but it’s far from compelling. I wouldn’t recommend it to most readers, and I personally wouldn’t seek out more of the author’s work.

The Housemaid (2010) is a slow-burn thriller cloaked in elegance and dread. Eun-yi, a naive young woman, takes a job in a wealthy household and becomes entangled in a web of seduction, control, and betrayal. What starts as domestic drama quietly morphs into psychological horror, with unsettling twists and morally complex characters. The film’s tension builds through silence, glances, and power plays, evoking the same eerie class dynamics seen in Saltburn. It’s best watched with no expectations—just a willingness to be unnerved. Beautiful, brutal, and deeply human.

The Housemaid

Ferry 2 falls short of the standard set by the original Ferry film and the Undercover series. The gritty tension and rich character development that made the earlier entries so compelling are largely missing here. The backstories lack depth, and the new cast of characters just doesn’t hold up—less charisma, less chemistry, and far less engagement. If you're a fan of the original, this one may feel like a watered-down epilogue rather than a gripping continuation.

"Civil War" falls short of expectations, primarily due to its lack of credibility. The plot is riddled with implausible scenarios, and the characters' actions often defy logic. The film's pacing drags, making it difficult to stay engaged. While the visuals are decent, they can't compensate for the weak storyline and unconvincing performances. Overall, "Civil War" is a disappointing watch, failing to deliver a compelling or believable narrative.
