This review will contain light spoilers. No plot ruining ones. Keep in mind that I have only watched up until Ep.1 Season 3
TLDR: If I could give a 3.5 I probably would. The show feels like avatar: the last airbender if the writers were less competent, hated the catholic church, and were allowed to let the characters curse and kill people. Dumb and usually weak villains, OP protagonists.
What I do NOT like about the show:
A lot of the villains act incredibly stupidly and do not seem to act as they should given past actions and descriptions of their character. It legitimately makes me not certain if I should be rooting for the dark armies of Dracula and friends or the main characters as the villains are such an incompetent sorry excuse of a threat that it makes them feel as if they are the underdogs in the story which I believe should not be the case. An example of this is all of the monsters in Dracula's army, in particular those created by his forge masters. They are said to be incredibly dangerous yet are dispatched easily by the protagonists without much thought. There are never really any situations where the protagonists are in any real danger and they are never put into any situation where they are on the brink of defeat/death. There is not really any suspense at all. Characters never really have any lasting effects on them apart from scratches and bruises, at some points there are fights which you would think should leave the characters badly bloodied and injured yet they just have a scratch on their arm while being perfectly fine. I also felt as though alot of the plot was incredibly rushed, which is a shame as I believe this plot could have been much better.
I also have issues with the voice acting. There are many scenes where it is difficult to understand what characters are saying. I also thought that Godbrand's voice was utterly terrible. Not sure if that is just supposed to be that way or if I am just odd or something but yeah.
Now for the stuff I liked about this show:
I really like all of the settings, scenery and some of the action. Scenery was really well illustrated and well designed. I liked the large landscapes and images of the cities + Dracula's castle. Some of the action was interesting and well choreographed. I also liked Isaac's character alot and both his and Dracula's voice actors and lines were good.
I will probably be watching this until I run out of episodes to watch. Though I definitely was a little disappointed by the way the plot went and some other things as mentioned above. Could have been much better.
