Modern poetry is saturating the literary world after it's massive resurgence highly thanks to those like Rupi Kaur & Rudy Francisco. I came into this book expecting another collection of modern poetry; morose, transparent, dark, but what I was pleasantly surprised to find was a narrative, masterfully written. We've been there, we've felt the emotions of growing up, getting stitches, and questioning all of the pain that inevitably molds us.
What I appreciate the most about "Sown" are what most would overlook - K. Price's use of poetic devices in her work. She has a keen understanding how how to utilize themes, imagery, properly placed onomatopoeias and line breaks to continuously engage and call the reader back.
Price has no trepidations as a woman of Faith in showing the reader the reality of a Christian walk blooming out of the dark. She is honest, but hopeful. Raw yet relatable.
A wife, mother, entrepreneur and prolific Christian writer, I am baffled that this isn't within the top 100 best selling Christian poetry.
As a bit of a poetry critic, I highly enjoyed this book and didn't expect to appreciate it as much as I did. I hope she continues to write.
