So disappointed but not surprised. I went into this movie cautiously optimistic hoping Hollywood wouldn't make the same mistake it has on so many other great movie franchises. Unfortunately, my fears became a reality. Let me start by saying I adored volumes 1 and 2 of GOTG. To this day I can watch them over and over again without getting bored. Now, onto Volume 3 (sadly). I will keep this brief because I don't want to relive the utter failure of this third and final version. The plot was nonexistent, the costumes in many of the scenes looked like the Teletubbies overdosed on multi-colored THC gummies and then threw up all over the movie set. The animal experimentation and resultant Frankenstein-like creatures were cringe-evoking. It felt like I was an unwilling spectator at a carnival freak show. Even though this is sci-fi you can take even the absurd even too far. For instance, in the first 5 minutes of the movie, Groot is reduced to just a head, but miraculously in just a few hours, he has grown back to his normal self, ignoring how long it took him to recover from the last heroic effort in Volume 1. This is one of many inconsistencies that violate the rules established in the first two movies. It was predictable, shallow, and void of any creativity. Most of all the song selection was beyond awful. I guess they wanted a soundtrack that matched the theme of the movie. This was strictly a money grab looking to cash in on the reputation of the first two films in the series. Save your money and wait until it comes to network TV. In the words of Groot, " I am Groot", translated means "I am so embarrassed to be part of this film and you should stay home".
