WORST BOND MOVIE EVER. I’ll keep my review short and sweet. Cons: ——- A. NOT ALIGNED TO REAL BOND MOVIE THEME There is a rom-com theme here subtly. Bond movies are about the razzmatazz of weaponry, high tech gadgets. This movie barely has anything we haven’t seen in previous films. B. SUBTLE ROM-COM THEME IN FOREGROUND NOT BACKGROUND We don’t watch Bond movies to see his faithfulness to Vesper or whoever he’s seeing to drown in his sentiment. Plus Bond is a known playboy. C. LACK OF PROPER CUNNING VILLAINY OR FORMIDABLE OPPONENTS Rami Malek despite his hideous face fails to rival a Goldfinger or a Le Chifre. Goldfinger , Le Chiffre, Scaramanga, Odd Job were equally important to Bond movies as Bond himself. The villains were eccentric and their presence occupied a theater. Rami M doesn’t do much besides act constipated or petrified with his burned face. I’ve seen scarier kids in scarier Halloween outfits with more presence. D. PIGGYBACKING PLOT OFF COVID EPIDEMIC This movie is loosely based on the current covid crisis so it is far from novel. Probably more obviously inspired. E. LACKS ALL OF WHAT A BOND MOVIE IS ABOUT: 1. WOW Stunts 2. WOW Action scenes 3. WOWWWW chases and sounds 4. WOWW GADGETS Bond movies once upon a time were like fine wine. There was the sensible style and beautiful ladies and cars like bikini girls off the coast of Italy and fancy cars in Monte Carlo. Then there was the evil villain on the yacht waiting to do a deal with some African dictator . Movies which captured the wildest imaginations of the script writers as well as exposed the audience to Hollywoods glamour quotient imagination and showcasing all the big boy toys. This movie is sugar water claiming to be fine dining champagne. If you’re not big on the series or a die hard fan I guess it’s OK but anyone who’s seen Goldfinger or Casino Royale will not be satisfied at all.
