If you were ever into the series, this is exactly what you wanted. If you weren’t, come in to tinker with giant robots and then fight with them. There is nothing else here - barely any narrative or characters to speak of, barren even on From’s standards. In other words: they didn’t add any sort of fluff to the formula, and this is the game you loved all the way back on PS1, just with modernized controls and updated looks. The previous couple of entries didn’t work for me at all, they felt lazy and out of date, but this absolutely delivers.

Old school horror with plenty of gore and disgusting detail. Capably put together. Feels like the original story without copying anything wholesale. All the re-dos of classic scenes are fun updates, and the final scene is memorable.

Outstanding. Doesn’t cut any corners, demands audience to pay attention, rewards with out of this world sights and sounds.
