The 2006 Holocaust novel The Boy In the Striped Pyjamas written by John Boyne can be described in one word: heart-wrenching. This realistic story is based on the events which took place at Auschwitz during WWII. It follows the life of an eight-year-old boy named Bruno featuring the growth of friendship between him and a Jewish boy from inside the concentration camp. The book is engaging for all audiences as it is written from the perspective of Bruno's innocent childish mind. What starts as a seemingly light-hearted plot, tragically leads to unexpected consequences. I would recommend The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas to literally anyone for its well-written, interesting, and heartfelt story.
