I would describe this as a vanity project with few redeeming qualities. The plot is predictable, shallow, and not especially believable. Characters are caricatures. Kathy Bates is great, and Jessica Lange is fine, but this does not save the film.

Self-indulgent in all respects. Good acting, but not much "there there". Lovely set design/art direction. Sadly, a vanity project that I found to be not worth my time.
