The books is finely turned out and correctly priced. The authors have put together quite interesting information about at least 12 species of Indian tree which are found in cities (Cassia fistula, Jamun, and palms, among these). It is not a scientific survey, more of a coffee-table book, which makes for easy reading. It may get your teenager interested in trees; to this end, they have provided information on the apps being used in schools to promote awareness of trees.
Why just the three stars?
The book could have been better. The interpretation of local phrases leaves much to be desired, overall the professionalism is lacking. It is a finely turned out book which will see quite a few reprints; the text doesn't quite earn the price you pay. The illustrations, which start out magnificently, drop in quality towards the end. I have two copies of Wohlleben's fine book, "The Hidden Life of Trees," and this book will surely be compared with that classic. I congratulate the effort, and hope that the book will be rewritten/re-illustrated in a more professional manner.
