Inanna Ishtar – Google

I am not sure what I am missing, because I've had 3 people in my life tell me to watch this because it's so funny and I had never seen his standup before. So I watched baby J for as long as I could stand it, about 15 minutes, and then I checked out an older standup , Kid gorgeous from 2018, and I have yet to even cracked a smile. It's something in the way he deliver his stories that come off as redundant, disingenuous, boring, cliche and completely unoriginal and unimaginative.

If this show is supposed to make you feel sick at your stomach, depressed, and like you're going to vomit non-stop if you watch another second of it, then they have succeeded. Between the cinematography, story line, music and acting, they have found a way to instantly illicit the kind of physical responses normally only inflicted by near death experiences, food poisoning, relationship breakups and severe depression. EDIT: I decided to give it another chance and I am pleased to say that after getting through the first episode it definitely got more interesting and I love John Turturro and Patricia Arquette so I am anxious to see them and see where it goes.

The scenes with the nuns are so unsettling. I am barely through the second episode and am so disgusted and disturbed. I cannot find any redeeming qualities to make me want to sit through anymore of this sadomasochist nonsense. I thought the first episode was graphic until episode 2 where it gets even worse. As a woman with full blooded Native American ancestors, I find this portrayal of this young native girl to be outrageous and completely unnecessary to the story. I loved the strong women in the other series but the women in this series so far are written as caricatures. There are so many great actors and actresses in this show that I hope they get some better writers and more interesting and realistic stories. There was nothing entertaining about this show, just a cringe fest mixed in with the cattle and horses owned by the show creator.

I really wanted to like this. And all the actors are great, it's just the writing and story line are terrible. There are so many opportunities for comic gold and opportunities for funny smart dialogue and yet, there is NONE of that. The acting from each character is superb considering how little they really had to work with. I am actually interested in these characters but sadly each scene leaves me feeling confused, disappointed and bored!

I was able to suspend my disbelief for the obvious impossibility of her surviving out there and for the fact that she always looked amazing and had a ton of clean LL Bean outfits and I really appreciated the directing and the pace of the story. I also cried a bunch, it was incredibly moving. There were so many things that were really good about this movie. But at the very end when she is at the guys bedside where he tells her he was driving the car that killed his wife and child and of all the times in this movie where she stayed silent and yet at this most important scene, she burdens him not only with her pain of the loss of her family but also mentions that they died by random violence, which makes him cry!!!!After watching her character arch it would have been so much more satisfying if she had LEARNED to stay quiet in the service of another, especially on his death bed.
