The MLA format is an accumulation of all of the reasons people dislike writing digitally, formed into one academic formatting guide. The format enforces a complete lack of individual creativity in its primary demography, being students who are forced to use this torture device as a guideline for writing papers. It also entails the use of custom formatting, which is impractical as many students do not have the technological expertise to be able to do this, it also adds a large quantity of time to the already lengthy process of writing academic papers for courses such as English. On top of that, the custom formatting doesn't indeed look good. The acceptable fonts in the MLA guidelines are Times New Roman and Arial. These fonts are overused, unattractive, and are in many cases challenging for the user to read without eye strain. Regarding how the problem just mentioned could be easily resisted with fonts such as Lexend Deca, one can only assume that this act was a deliberate act by the Modern Language Association. Acknowledging the strain of the reader's eyes, it is also important to account for the comically small fonts inforced by the MLA format, which are usually near 12 point are scientifically proven to be difficult to read for long intervals of time. The prime reason that institutions implement MLA is because of its professionality, which is just not legitimate. When people see MLA, they think of how arduous this will be to read and how bad it looks, not anything positive.
Overall, I think you know what I think of the MLA format. Sorry if this was too long.
