Huge DC fan here..
Honestly, this was a complete disappointment. The movie felt boring in a lot of places, and the whole political angle was just unnecessary. Superman was laughably weak most of the time. The suit looked mid and cartoony, more like a cosplay costume. Sometimes it feels like I'm watching a TV show and not a film.
The flying scenes were terrible. Just look at how epic and powerful Superman's flying was in Man of Steel and then compare it to this. It's night and day difference. The humour didn't work for me either, but that's expected since I've never liked James Gunn's style of writing or humour. Bad storyline. Pacing was uneven.
One dimensional characters. I didnโt care about anyone nor did I feel connected with anyone in the movie. People were also dumb. Superman has been saving the city for 3 years, and suddenly one news channel plays a video of his parents calling him dangerous, and now the whole city instantly hates him? Lol.
Childrenโs animated movies have better story and soul than this. Thereโs literally no proper story, just a bunch of random scenes stitched together to make a 2 hour overstuffed mess.
Krypto was annoying and dumb, yet funny sometimes. The Superman theme music was pretty good. Mr Terrific was cool, and the visuals were nice too. But other than that, I donโt think I really liked anything else.
And those two fictional countries fighting? Come on, even a blind man could see it was just the Israel Palestine issue disguised. Itโs a comic book superhero movie ffs, leave real life politics out of it.
Also, if somethingโs comic accurate, that doesnโt automatically make it good in live action. Just because it works in comics doesnโt mean itโll translate well on screen.
