I wanted to rate this novel at 2.5 so I rounded up to be generous. I was eagerly anticipating the writer’s second novel for a great summer read but was very disappointed! There is nothing in this story that propels the reader to keep going. The story line plods along at many points - slow and inattentive. The ending felt very contrived as if to only surprise the reader but it is unrealistic and the motive for the murders is almost farcical. The way the murderer reveals themselves is written as if to just end the novel and get the pain over. Very disappointed!
