I don't care what other people have said about this limited series, I thought it was great. Yeah, it's a bit silly and unbelievable in places. As in, she would definitely be dead way before she gets out of her situation. But. But it's a fun ride nonetheless and the conceit of using flashback massively really works to underscore and explain a) her vulnerability in a situation that she's woefully unprepared for and b) her psychological makeup that makes her partly victim and partly invinceable. The acting is great across the board especially from the lead. Enjoyable.

I wanted to love this book. Early Neal Stephenson (snow crash in particular) was great and I did enjoy 7 eves. This book had me really struggling to suspend my disbelief. It started rally string and then kind of disintegrated into a cod sword and sorcery 'adventure'. Why on earth would humans from the 21st century suddenly start to speak like 'oldey worldey' old testament people? It just didn't make any sense to me. It's as if Neal thought 'I've always wanted to write fantasy but I'm only known for sci fi. Hmm, how can I shoe horn a fantasy epic into sci fi format?' Oh and just for the purposes of full disclosure I listened on audible and even the nerrator sounded bored by the end. Stick to what you're good at Neal.
