First of all the mimicry is really good. The impersonations and body language from every angle is accurate and convincing. Amjid Khan, Rip, is the only actor that I know to feature in this and the original Sholay film.
To be fair as well, the film barely mentions the events of Sholay 1975, and makes only vague references to it here and there. The 4 heroes had the toughest job here. They had to act their roles and be in impersonation mode the entire time. Here one has to appreciate the minor details. The slight movements of the hands, the subtle facial expressions, manner of walking and dancing. Vijay Saxena who played the nakli Amitabh did an amazing job. Sadly he too like Amjad Khan, passed away a few years after this films release. Nakli Anil Kapoor, Dev Anand and Govinda, again great job.
The heroines also did a decent acting job and looked good while doing it.
Of course, it was also good to see Amjid Khan back as Bollywood's greatest villain, Gabbar Singh.
In conclusion, the film clearly doesn't compare to the legendary Sholay. However, as an action comedy, it is entertaining and full of character. Well worth a watch.
