It was a good storyline, but the Writer’s/director missed a huge opportunity to blend the diversity in cast when they placed a highly popular actress (Ziyi) in an ensemble where no one would converse with her directly in her language and her words should have been at least interpreted by one fellow crew member which would have helped the ensemble of actors deliver a more visually cohesive performance for all. As a sure sign of a writer/directors faux pas - It was as if her presence was barely acknowledged in too many scenes and in other scenes she was forced to deliver a higher-bar performance than the others in order to make up for this gross error. In the future, Netflix should re-consider this approach...you were on the right track, but instead of dodging the language barrier issue using amateur writing/directing tactics, make the actors/writers/directors do the work to invest in a more seamless performance. Ziyi beautifully delivers anyway, but it is well worth the extra effort to see her and other Asian actors in an American ensemble to make it more seamless.
