Wholesome retro-ish movie, set in the 1990s. Really wholesome, honestly. And it has some sad parts. Pretty good. It's really not a bad movie, I just think too many people are comparing this to the original Korean movie. They have their own charms, bringing one back to the retro eras of the respective countries of origin of the movies.
With the Korean movie, the wardrobe was a disco-esque feel. Korean highschool girl fashion from the 90s. It has a sort of grungy feel, the overall shading of the movie. With the Japanese movie, the wardrobe was more of a strange type of fashion that japanese highschool girls wore in the 90s, knee high socks, dark tans, miniskirts. I'm not exactly sure what the style's called, however, I know it was a legitimate style back then. It also has a more of a bright feel, compared to the Korean version.
Both are almost the same, just sort of adjusted to different nation's viewers. The bright style of this movie might make the viewers of the original feel like it's cheap. But you'd only feel that way if you go into the movie with a bias from the start.
