DOOM Eternal manages to be an incredibly fun game despite its numerous flaws. The story is interesting but corny. The multiplayer mode is sub-par. There are far more bugs in the game than there honestly should be (which is probably Bethesda's fault). However, the core gameplay is so fluid and engaging that any flaws the game has can be completely forgiven. The fast paced nature of the combat combined with the diverse and well thought out design of the enemies and your weapons create a gameplay experience that ABSOLUTELY REQUIRES you to think fast. You need to keep a constant eye on your health, armor, and ammo. Using specific weapons against enemies will refill any one of those things when they get low. You also need to have a keen awareness of your surroundings and the types of enemies you're fighting. Every enemy has unique attack patterns and ways to efficiently dispatch of them. For example, Mancubi need to have their cannons shot off from afar. Cacodemons need to have a grenade shot into their mouth. Doom Hunters need to have their shield overloaded with plasma weapons. You'll have to deal with all kinds of enemies like this all at once, and you need to quickly figure out the best way to handle each encounter, or you will be overwhelmed. It's a hard game to get the hang of, but once you do, there's no feeling more satisfying than clearing an encounter in this game. And with even more diverse glory kills than its predecessor, slaughtering the unholy hordes of the underworld will NEVER get boring!
