I’m watching now and so excited because I never knew that two more parts were made since part 1. It’s disappointing to read all the negative reviews because of either political or racial personal expectations placed on a movie which in my opinion is for entertainment purposes and not looked to as a factual documentary. The black historical figures introduced are a great way to add some substance to the storyline. Fun movie to watch

I really am enjoying the series and its saddening to see such bad reviews!! You can’t compare this to the Selena movie directed by Gregory Nava who also did La Bamba. I didn’t expect that kind of magnitude of casting and screenplay. He had a lot to live up to at that time. It’s 25 years later and I’m appreciative of the fact that her memory is still being kept alive to this day. Now my own daughters can see a Mexican woman a superstar on the screen and be proud of themselves and who they are. Yes, the actress doesn’t look so much like the actual Selena but, neither did Lou Diamond Phillips cast as Ritchie Valens. I think the actress’s personality shines through. I’m sure Selena’s sister and family had to see something in order to cast her for the role. I’m very thankful to Netflix for this series!!! My daughters can’t wait for the next series. They already know mid 2021!
