First class, I was with the RAF in Palestine in the last few months of the British mandate in1948, prior to the creation of the state of Israel. Our job was to fly out over the Mediterranean Sea and look for, what was termed, illegal migrant ships, radio the Royal Navy their position and they would arrive and either turn them around or escort them to Cyprus for interment. Later, as I got wiser I found myself disgusted by the action that we performed against these brave people.
