It's fun. Open world shooty sandbox fun. And there's plenty of helarious characters to meat and do missions for, as well as hang out and blow stuff up with.
The story is just bad though, and since progressing through and beating the story is a core part of the experience it brings the game down quite a bit. It's speckled with plot holes and you honestly can't get by any major cutscenes without asking yourself "wait what? Why? or How?" The cult you're fighting don't make for compelling antagonists aside from "yay more things to shoot". The worst part is how pleased with itself the game is when it takes away your agency for one of its "bliss trips" or kidnappings. It also makes an (I hesitate to use the word) attempt at sociopolitical commentary that fails to get you invested in understandi mng the cult since they're so iredeemably evil. The main antagonist might have started as an interesting character but at some point had those traits split between 3 sub-villains who all seem to just serve the purpose of saying "yes we're the bad guys" every 5 minutes.
That said it's a far cry game. It's pretty fun, poor story aside. Other people can better explain then me what the gameplay is about.
