I don’t know why so many people find it delightful to hear their own shrill voices whinney disapprovingly as they deconstruct this film. If one does not enjoy near-future dystopian apocalypse thrillers, then one would be Ill advised to suffer through this extremely tight and suspenseful movie, which I (because I do enjoy that genre) was more entertained by than anything in the past.. year?.. The setup is somewhat derivative of M. Night Shamalayan’s The Happening (which I also liked). That having been said, every story has been told one way or another, at least until the ACTUAL apocalypse, it seems that the best one can hope for is a fresh take, which Bird Box delivers. I also think that Trent Reznor, like Jonny Greenwood, does some of his best work these days with scores, and here did a fine job. Thank you.
