Don’t understand how this game passes as almost 5 star entertainment to most people these days. Clearly it’s mostly the fanboys who are rating. This game sucks. For a heist game, it’s very lame. I’ll explain my reasoning:
The constant “hold RB” (if you’re on console) to complete basically every action in the game is incredibly lazy and boring. Be you cutting fences, picking locks, planting explosives, bagging bodies, deploying technology, it’s the same “hold RB” If I’m picking a lock, I want to actually pick a lock, there should be a mini game or something, same for cutting fences, I don’t even see any wire cutters, a big hole magically appears. The game doesn’t even do you the curtesy of a copy and paste scripted animation to show what is happening.
There’s also no options for hugging walls or peering around corners. For a game where stealth is key, this would be useful, as well as in combat.
There’s too much hand-holding and constant commentary over the headset by a guy whose voice literally always has the same hushed and panicked tone. The whole thing feels very artificial.
The movement feels unfinished, as if the player is on wheels or gliding on air, I feel very physically detached from the environment, not least because I have arms, but when I look down, no legs, I’m a disembodied entity floating in the air.
Another thing; the sheer amount of text that comes up on the screen during the menus / in messages from Bain or whoever. I am here to unwind, I don’t want to read an essay.
Lastly, there’s nothing about the game that feels that unique. It’s a very bland, copy and paste, generic FPS experience. This game feels like it belongs in 2010.
