I’ve seen every Saw movie to date. Every Saw fan knows there’s two major parts to every film. The first: gore, traps, and effects, always on par and fitting to their victims, the question of “deserving or not?” left to the viewer. The second: the absolutely bonkers plot twist that nobody saw coming that leaves the audience with a shock and a follow up from the protagonist. This movie horrendously failed in both categories. SPOILERS! Firstly, the traps were pretty decent and fitting, but the recipients were so cartoonishly evil that I’m surprised even the corrupt precinct didn’t get them first. I mean 90% of the corrupt cops were like, “I think today I will shoot an innocent man for no reason at all.” Secondly, you could easily call the killer within 10 minutes of the movie’s start. It’s literally that bad. This isn’t some, “I’m a genius, I figured it out,” it was just really, embarrassingly easy to see coming. They even try to throw you off the trail with weak red herrings. You’ve gotta do something wrong to make a movie with Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson bad. I mean the message, cast, and premise were tremendous but follow through was terrible.
