Having the chance to watch an old classic spin-off of Hamlet, with amazingly realistic visuals as an adult, definitely does the trick! What can I say? The heart wants what the heart wants.
In this visually stunning rendition of The Lion King, I somehow found new meaning in all the teachings Mufasa imparted on to Simba as a cub, and later, as a young adult. The realistic feel of all the characters brought nostalgia with a tinge of sadness: with the way we are moving forward as a civilization, is this the only way nature will live on for future generations?
Though I read some reviews that pointed to disdain in an apparent loss of "animated expressions", I think that any person out there with ANY amount of time with animals will tell you that in every minute eye-flicker, downward gaze, shake of the head, and mane-nuzzling scene, there was real feeling and intent. Real animals are able to communicate excellently well without words, and in this live-action-CGI method, none of that was lost.
Sit down, relax, and wait for all the old feels, mixed with some new more world-conscious ones, to envelop you in this classic.
