A realistic film that portray the difficulties a woman faces in a society, when she gets raped by state police. The rape is not shown on screen. But its cruelty never subsides throughout the film by the metaphorical display of societal rape. One police argues that she must drop off the allegation, as it only weakens the respect of state police. This lame excuse exposes the nude structure of patriarchy in the society.

A bit lengthy, but beautifully documented sports movie. The change of camera movement at the fag end of the film grabs attention immediately. I wonder how such a nationally important theme was left unattempted through the decades! After watching the one-man struggle of a football coach, one cannot but heave a sigh repenting those golden days of Indian football!

Excellent execution of equally excellent script.

There minimalistic acting of the titular character is throughout striking. This should have been a bit more explicit about the resistance activities. Still, it is successful as a political movie which balances the fictional part with the political scenario which serves a background of it.

I'll remember this movie for its subtlety of image. Remember the religious march with the cross of Jesus where the representatives of police and drug dealers are talking of cleansing their own hands figuratively, which is represented by cleansing the deadbody of Christ.

One of the greatest dark comedy Bollywood has ever produced. In some scenes ( like the secret telephone scene) one may be amused to find Tintin-esque comic adventure. No matter how comically the protagonists get escaped in some tensed situations, the ending is pretty grotesque. The mock epic scene of enacting Mahabharata is hilarious. But the end balances the tone of the entire drama.
