This had the potential to be a thought-provoking novel but instead ended up being confusing, contradictory, and frankly, men-hating which as a feminist I must insist that we as a majority do not condone!! This was a violent, anti-feminist novel. Not to mention the speech between characters so so bad, many conversations deserved an eye roll, Roxy's Britishness is laid on far too thick. What a waste of time,

I couldn't put this book down! The way this book is written is beautiful; emotional, thought-provoking, and heartbreaking. What's devastating about Lydia's story is how real it is, how many migrants like her run fearful of their lives, and their children's lives. I'm astounded that stories like this don't provoke more emotion among some, especially those sparking hatred towards people like Lydia and her son when all they want is to survive. I pray this can change the minds of the ignorant. This fast became my favorite book, a position that until recently had been held by the same book for four years. CANNOT RECOMMEND ENOUGH! Must read!!
