I thought it was very good, if inevitably missing some things in the book. I didn’t see it as about Trump, especially since the book was written in 2004. I saw it as a historical drama that captured the complexity of some very painful issues.

Very well done. It drags at times but still delivers a powerful microcosm of its era. Makes you think, as a good movie should.

Great performance by Joaquin Phoenix and an interesting, Wicked-like reversal of the Batman original story. But something missing. The link between the main character's mental problems and the social justice theme wasn't really there. The idea may be that, in a crazy society, you have to be a little crazy to be sane. But it needed to be developed further.
