I'm not a film critic. I just enjoy watching korean movies and occasional drama series.
I really enjoyed watching this. There was plenty of action and thriller to keep you engaged.
*spoiler*
Park Jung Mo the undercover cop becomes evil in many ways in the process of trying to achieve his goal. The very last words spoken when he kills Jung Gi Cheul was "I caught Jung Gi Cheul". I felt like Park Jung Mo lost his innocence as we can see flashbacks to his former innocent cop days. He murders a gangster in the big brawl hacking away at the gangster's back.
Jung Gi Cheul loves Yu Euijeong. He wants to forgo his bad ways and sacrifices so much for her.
But I don't think this is that simple. I felt really sorry for our main "villain" Jung Gi Cheol because Park Jung Mo and Yu Euijeong betray his trust. It must have felt truly heartbreaking to go through that.
I can also feel Park Jung Mo's pain and Yu Euijeong's pain.
It started off with Park Jung Mo's aspirations to move up the ranks but then it turned into something much more. I think the director was trying to show the process of sacrificing everything that you love and makes you who you are for a greater goal is not worth it but we often times don't recognize this until it is too late to turn back and the price we paid can't be refunded.
I really wish there was a happy ending but it was not.
I also love Lee Haeryun's character played by Bibi. She chose to follow her heart but she was also played by Park Jung Mo.
We justify our actions if the end goal serves a higher moral purpose but in the process those small actions make us who we are.
