indian stereotypes? racist remarks cloaked as witty comebacks? the uncomfortable interaction between the police officer and Leo? a young, professional chef leaving (and frankly not even caring about the one thing she had to do for two weeks: make a menu) great opportunities for love? Gordon Ramsey wannabe? a man WITH A GIRLFRIEND cheating on her with his childhood crush? perpetuating overdone gay male cliches? another Romeo and Juliet style love story?
the main storyline was of Leo and Nikki but all the subplots of the family drama plus the whole chef thing plus the competition PLUS franca and Carlo's love story made the movie too rushed and frankly hard to enjoy
the more we use rom-coms to mask and further propagate negative cultural stereotypes, the more those stereotypes stick. we are so much better than that. this movie is not it. an alright love story is not worth succumbing and being desensitised to toxic false stereotypes.
