I want to start by saying this. I truly identified with Hikigaya as a high school student considering I was a go-to person for issues and played a role in the student body albeit being no one. That is my main bias towards this anime.
However, I do think this anime does take a very pessimistic approach to reality. It showcases how a simple highschool world has so many random complications and fragile connections that are bound to fall apart. This type of approach adds an interesting layer of mystery to the show. You can't guess what will happen next because something is conventional but this anime will show you the unconventional way to solve problems. And that's what gives you those feelings of uplift and satisfaction or anger and dissatisfaction. So, if you are into group dynamics and like a bit of drama as well this is the anime for you
