There is a certain limit for horror movies. Martyrs clearly does not understand what that limit is, and so used such gruesome violence that it is sickening. Horror is not about blood and someone getting flayed alive. Horror is uncertainty, doubt, paranoia and terror. Martyrs however, decides to use this horrific violence throughout the movie, never showing anything as to plot, only violence.
