I liked the story along with the many details included. What I didn't like was how slow the story was. It was a very long movie that felt like it drug on at times. Also Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker... not my favorite Heath Ledger and Jared Leto will always have this role. Joaquin did a great representation on mental illness and how society treats them and was amazing to touch base on the sensitivity of the topics along with the abuse his whole life seemed to attract. What I would have enjoyed seeing in this role would be a younger representation of the character, Joaquin was too old for me to see this as an origin story. I think if they had done a story out of his later life after he was established then it would have been a better role for him. But not to take away from anyone who enjoyed the movie because it was well executed it was just too slow for me.
