X-Men: Dark Phoenix is a beautifully told story that was unfairly trashed by those Marvel fanboy bloggers before they ever even watched it. You may have read their wild comparisons to 2015's Fantastic Four simply because it also had re-shoots, like a LOT of movies do. And F4 did turn out to be a disjointed mess. But Dark Phoenix flows pretty seamlessly from start to end.
So after reading those, we admittedly walked in to the theater preparing to be underwhelmed. But we walked out feeling really great about how this X-men chapter re-told Phoenix and wrapped up the franchise. (If you saw X-Men 3 and its Phoenix subplot disappointed you, seeing this will totally rectify that.)
Dark Phoenix is visually striking, emotional, features an amazing score by Hans Zimmer, and - especially during the fight scenes (some of the franchise's best) - fun to watch. It's a satisfying, poignant conclusion to the current X-Men Movies franchise.
