Well told, concise storytelling with engaging & compelling characters. Slickly executed, commendably performed, and imminently rewatchable. Unarguably, worth at least one viewing. A solid *6.5 out of 10 *(and maybe even a 7 on the right day)

I have thoroughly enjoyed this film each of the half dozen of so times I have watched it; and, more than that, I have found new things to love about it on each of those viewing occasions. The script is laudable with impactful moments of subtle insight, grim introspection & reflection, and unsettling revelations that affect both the characters inhabiting the filmscape as well as the emotionally-invested viewer/s. Featuring powerful performances from each of the featured actors: Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Michael Pena, and John Bernthal each make outstanding contributions to the story and showcase the undeniable skills which they surely bring to this project. Highly recommended

At its most basic, this is a modernized retelling of the subpar Stallone vehicle "Over the Top". However, where that felt cheap, lazy, and unimaginative, this feels somewhat inspired and inspiring.
