Sold as a 'Jingle All the Way' type of affair with a fair number of references that adults will no doubt relate to from their childhood. Ultimately, the message of the movie is very much different to the main theme and delivered by the least likely of characters: "Make the most of Christmas, you only have so many". This stuck out for me, as it's very true. As the movie comes to a fairly emotional end, it becomes clear as to what really matters when compared to what we placed value on as kids. Very enjoyable film and worthy of a viewing. 👍

Somehow they've managed to produce a film that is longer than Lynch's take on the book, but have it contain less detail as to exactly what is happening and why. For every question it answers, it leaves more questions elsewhere. With the real kicker being this remake is only half of the story. Given this is set to span two movies, my guess is the next movie will be two hours of watching Paul fulfil his role among the Fremen, then we'll get a 20 minute end battle, roll credits. Just watch the Redux version of the original movie by Spice Diver, It's 20 mins longer than the 2021 version, but actually covers the entire story. It's not perfect, but at least you won't be left waiting years for what will probably be an unsatisfying conclusion to the 2021 take.
