Being born in 2007, this movie was only 7 years older than me. I remember being 3 years old and watching this movie on Sunday evenings with grandma and grandpa when I was by the apartment. Times I treasure, rest their souls. Anyway, I’m now 15, and I’m looking at the advance notices on this particular motion picture. Which is everything good about it. First good thing about the movie is its epic actors. Mara Wilson (who kids know as Lily) is best known for her role on 1996’s Matilda motion picture starring Danny DeVito. Yes, she is known for others, including 1994’s Miracle On 34th Street motion picture starring Elizabeth Perkins. But this movie certainly brought her up the ranks, especially since it was the beginning of a new century. Peter Fonda (who kids know as Grandpa Burnett Stone) is most well known for his role on 2007’s Ghost Rider motion picture starring Nicholas Cage and his guest appearance on Season 2 (2014) of The Blacklist starring James Spader. Fonda passed away in 2019 due to old age, but Lord rest his soul. His acting on this movie was spot on, which really earned him a spot on the top 100 of the year. Finally, we cannot forget the main actor. The one and only Alec Baldwin (who kids know as Mr. Conductor) is extremely well known for a lot of his work, especially his role as narrator on Season 6 (2002) of Thomas The Tank Engine starring Joseph May, his role as Parker on Season 8 (2002) of Friends starring Jennifer Aniston, his role as Alan Huntley on 2015’s Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and Fallout starring Tom Cruise, and his critical role as newspaper author Jimmy McArthur on Season 15 (2014) of Law And Order: Special Victims Unit starring Mariska Hargitay. Ever since the 1980’s, Baldwin has been making a huge success for his entirety of collective works. It’s no wonder why they chose him to be in the movie, especially a kids movie. The final thing that makes this movie top notch for kids is its amazing yet understandable storyline. The island is peaceful (just like on the show), but then Diesel 10 returns and tries to wreck havoc while searching for Lady and the magic railroad. The only thing that puts me off is why Gordon says “Diesel 10’s back!!”. I mean, I didn’t watch episodes from the early 90’s, but I watched some clips late at night. When I was bored. No one knew about this mysterious character, as he never appeared before. Diesel 10 didn’t actually appear until 2005, the very last year of Star Trek: Enterprise starring Scott Bakula. And only season 7 of Law And Order: Special Victims Unit starring Mariska Hargitay. And the time year this movie was released, some people had gotten to old for Thomas. They were still on board the USS Voyager. Believing that Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and her crew would still find a way back to the Alpha Quadrant. They did, though. Anyway, back to the movie. The one thing that makes it incredibly unique is how they followed the dynamics of Star Trek, whether it be TNG (starring Patrick Stewart) or Voyager. They followed that by letting the humans travel from New York (an actual place) to train land (a make believe dimension). I can’t remember what the island is called. Thomas and his friends (while teamed with the humans) have to try and stop him before Diesel 10 gets his claws on the gold dust. I can’t remember what happened if he did, but I know for sure it wasn’t anything good. In conclusion, it’s a very cute movie for toddlers and young kids who are obsessed with Thomas like I was. I rate it a definite 5 star.
